  1. Maybe I am just a cozy mystery reader that is tired of reading most cozies I downloaded this freebie and I was really enjoying it but when I got to the end, I decided I didn t want to follow it any I think I am into the gritty crime books for now The author did a great job of writing this novel and it has tons of promise with the characters and the beautiful setting I also loved the author s sense of humor A great start to a series.

  2. I enjoyed the characters in this book very much And I enjoyed the story too Ellie and her group of friends notice something strange with the neighbours Very soon they are hot on the trail of a missing wife, a possibly murderous husband and a set of clues that lead them in many different ways Of course there is a handsome police officer and ex husband drama to keep it spicy.

  3. Reviewer s Note I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review I have previously enjoyed all of Dee s books especially the fact that the heroines are close to my age and stage in life This book was no exception The main character and those closest to her are likable and interesting enough so that I finished the book quickly While I enjoyed the overall story, there were a lot of characters to keep track of and some of the character development was lacking I got to a pivo [...]

  4. Exciting storyI found this book offered at no charge Being Mother s Day, I decided to try it What a good idea This book was fantastic I love My Abrams and I would love to live there and hang out with all the characters in the story.I now have another new series to enjoy and I can t wait to read the other books in this series The author has such a smooth style of writing that I felt like I was actually in the story This cozy mystery has all the strong elements I look for, a good, strong plot, a b [...]

  5. I adore Dee Ernst s writing style I ve read several of her books, and I enjoy her characters so much, they re so real and wonderfully flawed and funny and lively This book was good, kept me entertained, but was not up to her usual depth of story, plot and character development, perhaps because it was of a short novella, than a novel These characters seemed like people I d enjoy getting to know, but I just didn t feel like I got to know them as well as I do the characters in her other books I us [...]

  6. Again, Dee Ernst kept me reading, kept me away from cleaning, kept me away from doing the laundryI thought that this book was fabulous Again Ernst gets us into the lives of Ellie Rocca, and her neighbors in the close knit Mt Abrams community where everyone knows each other s business She takes us to the familiar haunts of the Pizza Parlor, to the lake, to the Clubhouse, to her next door neighbors, who seem to live a secret lifeErnst takes us to observe Ellie s daughter, Tessa s bus stop and on h [...]

  7. An enjoyable read, surprisingly short and to the point for a cozy No gushing, no extraordinarily self indulgent wallowing, no relentless minutai about clothing interior design cooking shoes and the like just enough to lend relevant colour and context to the story And no recipes of any kind.I did solve the mystery before the end, which is fair enough as the author had kindly ensured there were reasonable clues along the way In all, I found this to be a nicely engaging easy read, and look forward [...]

  8. I like thisI would ve given this for stars, or even five stars But the ending felt rushed And the romance was so over done, it felt comical I honestly could ve done without those two things But other than that the story is really cute, and the mystery is well done It is a true cozy mystery.

  9. Winner for a first book. This was a great story filled with friendship, red herrings, romance, regret, architecture, and small town stories Did I mention people that disappear, a murder suicide and a whale of an ending Just the kind of a story to read on a cold winter afternoon, wrapped in an Afghan, in front of a fire Bet the next one will be just as good.

  10. A lovely small town where nothing ever happensbut when one of the neighbours doesn t bring her boys to the bus stop the other mothers know something isn t right And are determined to suss out what wrong A lovely locale, interesting, likeable characters and a good plot.

  11. Small Town KillerEllie is a freelance editor who specialized in murder mysteries When a neighbour disappears under strange circumstances Ellie starts investigating with several of her friends Throw in a handsome detective and things begin heating up An entertaining story.

  12. Very very goodI m from a small town also and I know that when something happens it s big news, mostly because everyone knows everyone s business This was a wonderful cosy mystery, with well thought out characters and a very good plot Recommended read.

  13. While it was an easy read finished in a few hours , A Mother s Day Murder was a bit challenging than most cozy mysteries Characters were well developed and like ordinary people than you often find in mysteries.

  14. PerfectMy first time reading Dee Ernst and I m already looking forward to of her books Especially the My Abrams series I ve fallen for the little town where nothing happens Lol

  18. A Mother s Day murderThis story was easy to read and flowed so easily I couldn t put it down Ellie and her Mt Abrams friends are the kind of friends we all should have Of course a hot date gave Ellie a good distraction while trying to figure out who dun it.

  19. Reviewer s disclaimer This review was written based upon a free advance copy provided by the author Everyone who lived there was, of course, lying Mt Abrams is a picturesque fictional town in New Jersey, populated by average suburban characters living every day lives and attending to their families, jobs, homes, and other quotidian matters, including a tad of snooping into each others lives The populace likes to claim of Mt Abrams that nothing ever happens here , but, as author Dee Ernst tells u [...]
