Bestseller Book Brutal Love: A Death by Social Suicide Story I’ve been wanting more of Brit and Erik since I finished Death by Social Suicide so when I saw Brutal Love pop up, I knew I needed to drop everything and see where their story was going to lead us.Brit and Erik are doing great, but not looking forward to being separated during the holiday break. When circumstances change, they get to spend a week together, and it’s definitely an interesting week. Seeing Erik trying to do the right thing, and making things worse with her parents made me love him that much more, and watching Brit squirm after being caught in a lie by both her mom and Erik was quite hilarious. With Brit at Erik’s family’s house for the week, she’s surprised with how different his family is from hers. Where her mom is cold and seems to resent everything that Brit does, Erik’s family welcomes her with open arms and are absolutely amazing. I loved how Erik was NOT thrilled with the rules Brit put in place with her staying at his parents house, and he tried with all his might to get her to break her rules in the beginning of their stay.No only do we get an amazing love story continued for Brit and Erik, but we get to see them deal with some struggles along the way. They have ended their “honeymoon” phase in this book and are dealing with people from the past. I understood Brit’s anger and self consciousness when Alice shows up. She didn’t do a great job of hiding how she was feeling, but her internal monologue during this encounter had me laughing out loud. Brit is witty and has some amazing lines in this book, both spoken and unspoken, and the way she handled the situation was exactly how any of us would have as well. Seeing Erik’s sisters Laura and Lani understanding and not turning their backs on her when she got angry made me love them just as much as Erik and Brit!Where in Death by Social Suicide we were watching Brit deal with her past, and her first love, while making her way to Erik, it’s now Erik’s turn. I just wish we would have gotten to see a little bit of his point of view in this book to see if he was going through as much turmoil as Brit did. I love how sweet and caring Erik is, but he has his moments of being a guy and not thinking things through completely. I think that’s what endears me to his character so much. He’s the perfect mix of everything that makes a great guy.So much happens for these characters in the week that passes by, but even though it was just a week , I think it solidified their relationship and we know they will be together forever. I adored their story and really hope we get to see much more of them in Kristen’s book releasing soon! This book can technically be read as a stand-alone, but to really enjoy this story and see where they came from to where they are now, I highly suggest reading Death by Social Suicide first!Brutal Love is a sweet, sexy and hilarious new adult read, and made me fall in love with these characters all over again!
