  1. The writing is dark chocolate laced with voluptuous poison. The tale is heartbreaking and soul soaring. This is Toni McGee Causey as you ve never read her, and it s brilliant.

  2. I received an advanced copy of this novel I have waited a long time for a new book by Toni McGee Causey I loved her Bobbie Faye books for their sass, humor and heart This is nothing like anything else she s ever written Avery and the other characters in The Saints of The Lost and Found will stay with you, even haunt you, long after the last page The characters are so rich, so honest, so believable that you might swear you have met them in person It took me about a week after I finished the book [...]

  3. Toni McGee Causey is well known for her Bobby Faye books Light hearted screwball comedy Her new book is drastically different in tone and style Though there are moments of black humor, this novel takes her work in an entirely different direction Saints is a dark thriller with paranormal overtones In short, if you are looking for Bobby Faye you will not find her here What you will find is a masterfully crafted novel with divergent timelines that all manage to coalesce in the end Avery Broussard [...]

  4. Avery Broussard finds lost things Some she has searched for, others show up like a bullet in her side when she gets too close to other people A child of grifters who didn t ask permission to use her gift , she s now an adult, running from failure towards danger and not able to avoid it because the danger concerns her brother Latham She needs to go home to Louisiana, or he will die And so might she.The Saints of the Lost and Found is one of the best books I ve read in a while T M Causey has creat [...]

  5. This novel got a great review from Romance Times so I was apprehensive I m not keen on romance novels Turns out that SAINTS isn t a romance though it does have a bittersweet love story It s so much The suspense is juicy and never lets up The characters are strong and proactive yet vulnerable enough to be relatable The story plots are unexpected and well played I don t want to spoil things for future readers so I won t comment on plot but Causey does a few things exceptionally well and those nee [...]

  6. One of the things I love about Toni McGee Causey s writing is that she gets you into the mind of the protagonist so deeply that you get to live the story through their eyes Not only does that make for compelling and suspenseful storytelling, but it also reveals the fears and insecurities that make her characters so very human Whether I am experiencing the outrageous hijinks of Bobbie Faye or the paranormal gifts of Avery Broussard, what resonates with me are the very real stories of family, love [...]

  7. First let me say I received a advance readers copy I ve taken my time to read and chew over plot twists to savor each point etc like a big box of truffles ERMEHGERD Never really been a big fan of Southern Gothic novels so many seem to be the same HOWEVER this is entirely different and for me has won me over Ms Causey, is such a phenomenal story teller the characters I swear are so well written and flexed out you would almost swear she s just hijacked someone s life story and turned it into a nov [...]

  11. Full Disclosure I was a beta reader for the first three drafts of this book, and currently manage Toni s social media pages It s funny, I was pregnant with my third daughter when I read the first draft, and now she s roughly the same age as the protagonist in several flashbacks It s not easy to absorb it when your favorite author changes genres, switches tones, and tells a totally different style of story However, T.M Causey did it so well that I became a fan of a completely new genre, the South [...]

  12. This was the fist book I ve read from T.M Causey, I won it to read before you could buy it I am so happy I did as I have found a new author to add to my list The story kept me hanging on to every word, waiting to see what happened next The way she wrote the story made you feel as if you were there and experiencing it yourself Not only is it suspenseful it is also a love story.

  13. I have just finished this book and all I can say is WOW what a great read ,I was a fan of her Bobby Fay series and didn t know what to expect but I was hooked by the 2 nd chapter I can n t wait to read by her ,she makes you emotionally invested in her characters.Thank you Toni for a great book I recommend that this be on everyone s must read list this year.

  14. A high B for me I loved the Southern Gothic atmosphere and really appreciated the different spin the author put on the old psychic heroine trope Also I m a total sucker for Gothics and family secret plots so this was catnip for me What didn t work as well The fact that the romantic internal conflict stems entirely from the hero and heroine not talking to each other And because they don t talk to each other every secondary character gets sucked into their drama I actually felt sorry for the hero [...]

  15. A dark and deeply riveting book The romance is so filled with angst but you can feel the pull And poor Avery This book kept me engaged for 3 hours straight.

  20. _Saints of the Lost and Found_ by T M CauseyAn amazing book, with many twisty plot lines woven together and finished off perfectly.I was so caught up in Causey s _Saints of the Lost and Found_ that I stayed awake far too late and in the morning had to read before I could go to weaving class at the Art Museum Perhaps it was the influence of that weaving class that made the many surprises seem like threads twisting, turning, connecting, separating, in the hands of a skilled weaver of tales What c [...]

  21. This is one of THOSE booksA book that will stay with you long after you are done My mind was completely blown away This was a dark book with very interesting snippets of some major woo woo I don t mean paranormal I mean some serious dark woo woo The concept was different, the characters vibrant With a story line that had many, many different paths that all collided together It was heart breaking but uplifting to see the human spirit can endure so much and still find joy in the normal, mundane th [...]

  22. First I want to thank random number generator for picking out this book for me I had 50 books on my kindle to read and this was number 36 It must have been fate.Ok now for the review If you know me I do not write long reviews I am usually 5 or less words.I am going to need a few than that for this review.Avery finds lost things It could be a ring or it could be a person It does not always work perfectly This story was very different if very dark I loved the concept and as you read it you know t [...]

  23. This is a dark twisty Cajun tale of the evil If you think you re getting T.M Causey s Deep South comedy, you ll be very surprised this book is night to day different than her earlier work Suspend disbelief to become ensnared in this paranormal tale of visions of lost items and spirits that aren t resting well Beneath the friendship, the Saints are bound together by a life time of love and acceptance of each other s strengths and oddities Glimpses of her unusual childhood dotted with ongoing cons [...]

  24. A book like none other I ve ever read but in a good way I just finished this book and it s already on my read again list You ll read it once for the rich characters and the surprising but sensible twists Oh, and there s that occasional turn of phrase so beautiful it makes you stop and think and appreciate The second read will be for living with Avery, who sees everything everyone she comes in contact with has lost, but doesn t realize she s lost herself to see how she puts things together and pa [...]

  25. I just turned the final page of this compelling story at 1 46 AM and have now added a new book to my keeper shelf Wow, what a story It grabbed me from the first page and refused to let me set it aside I missed dinner, the dog s evening walk, the college basketball game I had planned to watch and my bedtime This story would not let me go It pulled me through an emotional wringer though the end did leave me with hope in my heart If you enjoy dark, Southern Gothic suspense with complex characters, [...]

  26. So compelling within two to three pages you wrestle with wanting to read it in one sitting or savor it slowly The characters are fascinating and come to life so clearly in your mind You care about them even if their circumstances are extraordinary And, they are people you will want to visit again.Toni understands the heart and soul of the Louisiana people and pours it onto the page And, it makes you want people like that in your life those friends that are there for you no matter what A great a [...]

  27. I recieved an advanced copy through first reads I have no clue where to start talking about the saints of the lost and found I loved everything about this book The characters, the plot, the writing I did not see any of the twists coming and it was great I have a hard time finding mysteries that keep me on my toes but the saints of the lost and found did I loved the characters T.M Causey let s you really get to know them and doesn t just skim the surface Avery s life made me want to keep reading [...]

  28. My niece won an advance copy of this book in a drawing I swiped it from her Pay no attention to the old saw You can t judge a book by it s cover because in this case you can The cover is striking and so is the story It is full of original ideas and defies categorization It is a thriller, a mystery, a bit of a romance, and maybe could be called a paranormal I won t write any spoilers but it s hard to put down The story comes together with a couple of big surprises at the end that slide easily int [...]

  29. Creepy Terrifying at times Amazing T.M Causey constructed a masterpiece with this book It was beautifully complex, and full of shocking surprises I was genuinely creeped out quite a few times While the book had a lot of sadness and pain, it was full of intrigue and I couldn t put it down If you are looking for something that will keep you guessing, this is definitely a book for you Just keep in mind it is not for the faint of heart This book goes to some very dark places I received this book in [...]

  30. I received this book free from a giveaway. This book surprised me I wasn t expecting it to be this good.It did start out a bit slow but by chapter 6 or so things started to pick up.Once things were picking up I really didn t want to put this down but yeah had to sleep.Couple twists at the end I wasn t expecting The ending was amazing but there was a lot happening so I re read some parts to make sure I didn t miss anything.Overall this book is really good.

  31. Every word she uses is necessary Every scene she sets forth exciting. There are no mental lapses that have you wanting to skip chapters, even pages of a book She draws you in and keeps you spellbound Loved all of her novels.

  32. THE SAINTS OF THE LOST AND FOUND is undoubtedly the hardest review I ve written to date It s required a lot of time and thought Avery s story isn t typical or easy.My introduction to T.M Causey was Bobbie Faye, the South s answer to Jersey girl Stephanie Plum When Bobbie Faye disappeared I searched, in vain, for something by Ms Causey, until THE SAINTS OF THE LOST AND FOUND It s a fine Southern Gothic but it is dark We re talking so dark there s times you can t see your hand in front of your fac [...]

  33. First Sentence I see lost things.Avery Broussard s ability to see lost things objects, people, people s own personal loses led her to working for the FBI The tragic outcome of her last case and the pubic notoriety, and despite the prophecy of her father, has driven her to seek refuge in the small Louisiana town where she grew up with the four boys, now men, including her brother, best friends, and the man she loved Unfortunately, there is no peace to be found Can Avery save other lives without l [...]

  34. The main character comes from a family with unusual abilities and has an interesting psychic ability herself seeing people and things that have been lost Everyone seems to want to take advantage of it from her con artist parents to the FBI.The Saints of the Lost and Found is the most intense, gripping book I ve read in years It was hard to put down, but we all have responsibilities in life, so even though you may not be able to read it in one sitting it s nearly 300 pages long , it is worth read [...]

  35. My grade A If you read my reviews, then you know I very seldom give a five star review Avery Broussard has the curse of seeing lost things and make no mistake about it, it is a curse Missing belongings and beloved pets, lost love and loved ones she sees it all Long ago, that curse destroyed her own chance at true love, causing her to flee her Louisiana home, vowing never to return She s kept that promise too, until a phone call from her estranged father forces her hand Her big brother is dying, [...]

  36. I liked this Southern gothic thriller about Avery Broussard, a woman with the supernatural ability to see lost things and people This telepathic sixth sense has been a destructive force in her life and the book starts with Avery running away from a situation where she helped the FBI in a serial child murder case, but got the details terribly wrong leading them to the wrong location Avery has quite the past with parents who were very eccentric mercenary con artists Her father also had special abi [...]

  37. Wow I wasn t sure what to expect when I started reading this I just knew it was darker than her other comedic works , but once I cracked open that book and yes, I read an actual paper book , I had a hard time putting it down It grabbed me right away and took me on a ride full of twists and turns Excellent suspense and highly recommended for those who like to read them.

  38. A killer is on the loose Avery has the ability to See things that other people cannot She considers this insight to be a curse and therefore flees her Louisiana home vowing never to return Until she receives a call from her father Her big brother is dying and Avery may be his only hope to survive THANK YOU FIRSTREADS

  39. I ve read and enjoyed Toni s Bobbie Faye series, but knew this book would be much different from that light hearted series While this book is very different in every way possible, it is immensely enjoyable at a whole other level The writing is evocative and descriptive in a way that makes the reader crave for Her word choice and construction of sentences bring about feelings of loss, desperation, and penetrating sadness but still somehow convey a sense of hope.Avery has a gift she can see peopl [...]

  40. Wow This book sucks you right in and won t let go until you finished I was in suspense the whole time The love story was bitter sweet The story is angsty and heartbreaking.

  41. This story is stunning and creepy and thrilling but many episodes are over the top with too much supernatural crap and whining The plot runs like a chaotic whirlpool or random roller coaster rather than a normal arc I like the gifted young woman who suffers deeply, every moment, from the curse of heartfelt visions of other peoples losses, and we get to know her life from her birth to her thirty years old present, and we get to know the other characters from her gifted perceptions I never got the [...]

  42. This book is the first T M Causey book I have read, and it comes very highly recommended It is certainly intriguing and well written with very well developed characters that you grow to care about and who stay with you even when you are not reading the book I have seen this book mentioned as Southern Gothic, and I would say that s an apt description of this dark story It kept me reading and had several a ha moments that were unexpected This dark, paranormal genre is new to me, and I wish I could [...]

  43. Avery Marie has run her whole life to escape experiencing the losses of people around her Born to a strange, unloving family of grifters she has only known about running Until she is forced to run back to the only place she ever called home Her inability to deal with hearing people cry and moan in her head about all the things people live they have lost or were scared to lose is just too much for her especially when she tries to repent by helping the police But what about her losses Her loves He [...]
