Good Book Home to Danger After some heavy and emotional reads I was glad to find this one. It’s well-written romance with a decent mystery that isn’t too dark or angsty. I’ve never read anything by S.C. Wynne before but I will check out her books in the future. The story centers around Jason Sinclair who returns to his childhood home when he learns his mother is dying of cancer. It’s a bittersweet reunion because he and his mother have never been close and she rejected him because of his homosexuality. She wants to move beyond the past but Jason isn’t so sure he can forgive and forget.Jason is thrown for a loop when he meets Adam Trent, his mother’s gardener. Adam is Jason’s opposite in every way, especially when it comes to talking about his feelings. Jason is horrible at relationships because he holds everything in. Despite their differences, or maybe because of, Jason and Adam are attracted to each other. The relationship between the two men was frosty at first but not for too long. They quickly become friends and it doesn’t take long for Adam to admit he’s attracted to Jason.I like you, though. I’m not sure why, but for some reason you interest me.I enjoyed the way they flirted and their easy going discussion of sex. It felt natural for them to start with a no-strings-attached fling. The sex was written perfectly and each time they got together I could see they were developing real feelings for each other. By the time they admitted how they felt I could tell they were in love. I felt their bond every step of the way.Jason is described as being bad at relationships and Wynne showed this throughout the book with his use of humor to deflect from serious conversations. During a conversation Adam says he likes working with plants because:“Trees don’t backstab or judge you.”“I don’t know. I met a barrel cactus once that was hard to get close to.” I did a vaudeville accent to sell my joke.”I rolled my eyes at the bad joke but it did make me smile.Adam is just as funny in an awkward way such as when he tells Jason he wants to have sex.“Follow me. It’s time to get jiggy with it.”I haven’t heard that term for years, but Adam using it totally felt his character. There’s a mystery involving Jason being harassed to sell his property after his mother dies. I was pleasantly surprised with the whodunit, especially that it wasn’t overly dramatic. It was realistic and hit all the right notes.I loved Jason and Adam together and adored this book.

  2. Really enjoyed this one I especially liked the humorous banter and sizzling chemistry between Jason and Adam FYI, there wasn t a lot of sex involved, but the intimate scenes were just the right amount of steamy The story was about Jason s relationships with his mother and Adam, which was refreshing.

  3. Well, that wasn t who I was expecting the baddie to be Having said that, I m very glad Jason didn t screw things up phenomenally and there was a happy ending.

  4. A Joyfully Jay review 4.75 starsThere are a couple of different storylines going on here First, we have Jason and his relationship with his mother, Velma Growing up, Velma wasn t a very affectionate or loving mother The last straw for Jason was his mother s views on his homosexuality Determined never to return home again, he finds himself back in Larame Bay because he was asked to return by the one strong, loving female in his life his housekeeper and his mother s best friend, Belinda Though Jas [...]

  5. I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review This is the second book I ve read by S.C Wynne, and it definitely won t be my last They are well written and I enjoy her writing style This story is about a son who, after many years away and no desire to return, comes home because his mother is terminally ill A mother whom he has always had a strained and tumultuous relationship with but whom wishes to makes amends with him Apparently Jason s property is a hot commodity that may peop [...]

  6. Home to Danger is the first book I read of author SC Wynne The premise behind the story is one that caught my attention since I first saw the blurb Jason Sinclair left Larame Bay at the age of seventeen He never had a good relationship with his mother and now that she is dying he decides to return home Jason is reluctant to believe she could have change when told by Belinda the family long time housekeeper and the person he sees as a mother and friend Adam Trent is a confident young man and the [...]

  7. Feel good story, mostlyI enjoy SC Wynne s stories They re typically kind of low key, romantic with occasional bouts of suspense Jason and Adam made a good couple It was a little slow burn, and there wasn t any insta love Only two actual, well written, sex scenes, no sex over story theme I was able to guess the bad guy as soon as he appeared on page I have to admit, George threw me a little The storyline of Jason connecting with his estranged mother was nice Adam was a bit too good to be true, bu [...]

  8. SC Wynne books for me are a bit of romance in between my heavier reads we all need those This one was a little different for me though, it stuck with me even after I put the book down always a good sign I loved Jason and Adam together, but what really tugged at my heart was the rebuilding of Jason s relationship with his mother I enjoyed that so much Though I wouldn t say this one was overly angsty, it did resonate run deeper for me Hands down this is my new favorite SC Wynne book With a good st [...]

  9. 4.75 stars I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading from this author I loved the characters and the mc s growth through the book A nice romance with an interesting mystery Usually I figure out the mystery quickly and get a little bored, but I was actually surprised to find out who the bad guy was This book is definitely going to go in my re read collection I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

  10. I ve liked most of S.C Wynne s books that this was another good one A fairly simple story of a man coming home after many years to see his dying, but estranged, mother Immediately he s caught up in a storm of neighbors, relatives, and developers, approaching him to buy his mom s valuable acreage after she passes. As he and his mother rebuild their relationship some what, and the son meets the caretaker of the property his mother has hired and sparks fly , the son starts to wonder if he wants to s [...]

  11. I ve enjoyed most everything I ve read by this author and this one was no different What I find most amazing is the difference in story telling from Wynne She can go from fire fighting to snow and now a writer with mother issues. This mystery has us guessing who keeps leaving Jason presents of poison snakes, setting a shed on fire and other things all while trying to reconcile with his mother before the cancer takes her.Helping him comes to terms with everything is the new gardener, Adam And I ju [...]

  12. I enjoyed this book I loved the banter between the two MCs, it was a lot of fun I liked these MCs very much The author paced their relationship well And although there was only a couple love scenes, the book didn t need Jason had great character growth and I was happy he and his mom made peace before she passed The mystery was pretty good, I admit it wasn t who I thought it was, lolI would definitely recommend

  13. I didn t care much about Jason and Adam Adam was too perfect and the conversations with Jason sometimes felt a bit stilted to me.It was easy to guess the bad guy almost from his first appearance and Jason was so dumb around 90% that I was thinking could you really be so dumb It was ridiculous.
