Without Borders had me laughing from the first chapter and finishing with a full heart. The attraction between Felipe and Annie is hotter than a month in a Nicaraguan jungle. Heger's debut is poignant and crackles with a wry, authentic, relatable voice that will appeal to anyone who's ever felt like a twenty-something fish out of water.PS: How do you not five star a book that has the line "I lost my vagina." Popular Book Without Borders So much potential gone to waste. I had so much hope for this book. Without Borders was so close to being the perfect romance book. It has a great setting, an intriguing plot (which literally goes nowhere) and a captivating hero. The main problem with this book is the heroine. I didn't like her at all. This was a flop for me. Here's why.SPOILERS.1) The heroine's sole purpose for joining the brigade had been to boost her resume. I didn't get the impression that she even cared about those people. All she cared about was getting into Brown. This book should have been called 'Let me cure some poor Nicaraguans' a.k.a. my get-into-Brown-free card. Why does the Academy hate Leo…Why does the Brown University hate Annie…2) The book is set in a beautiful rainforest. There are no words to describe the beauty of the scenery. Seriously. There are no words. Nature is awesome. Describe it.3) This chick is a med student but seems completely unprepared for the sight of blood. She's scared of delivering a baby. 4) No sexy times. No unrestrained passion. Come on. This guy is Latin American.5)Not all Hispanic people look alike. What even… 6) The ending was abrupt and unsatisfying. When you're hoping for a satisfying conclusion and then…7) The heroine went out on dates with other guys. Or, to state it more accurately, 'her roommates dragged her out on a few double dates.' I mean, really? She couldn't even stay faithful for a few months? Look, I am in a long-distance relationship. And yes, it's really hard. Well guess what? Suck it up, buttercup. People in love don't tend to go on dates with complete strangers just because their partner is in another country. WTF.
