Bestseller Ebook Wicked Odd Full Disclosure Here: Not only did I receive an advanced copy of this for review purposes, this is an author I already love. However, my reviews can't be bought and even the best authors have off days, so without further ado, here are my real thoughts of this book. I've read a few books in Virginia Nelson's Odd Series. This one may be my favorite. I'm still having a book hangover from it a few days after completion. Let's put this in perspective, shall we? I was so excited to get the book on Thursday but I didn't have a chance to dive into it as I was dealing with a choatic life, the beginnings of what would become one of the worst migraines I've had, and so much teen and tween angst I could have bottled it and used it as biological warfare. Sadly, I haven't figured that out AND it kept me from getting started on a book I was looking forward to. Friday, I woke up with that migraine and it was so bad, I literally had to have help walking to the bathroom without falling on my butt. Still, I found myself trying to read the book because I got hooked pretty quickly. Saturday, I was informed by my daughter that in addition to the migraine and stumbling, I had begun speaking gibberish. Slightly concerning but it did allow me to be left alone where I continued to try to read the book any time I could get my eyes to focus. Sunday, I still had my migraine and I still kept trying to read. What I had managed to read had invaded my dreams and I NEEDED to know what happened next. Monday, my migraine subsided to a headache and I flew through the rest of it. This book is honestly THAT good. Now, I've read books that I've loved just as much and have only given 4 stars too. I didn't 5 star it because I adore the author. I have a few that I adore that have written books that rank up there and I only gave 4 stars too. So, what is it about this book that sets it apart? It had humor, snark, emotional depth, all in perfect balance. I did almost give a four star because I wasn't sure if it just ended too quickly and suddenly or if I was just feeling better and flew through the rest but I finally decided it didn't matter. The way it ended made sense and the timing of things drawing to a close as they did was right for both the characters and the story itself. Sometimes, things click like that. It only added realism to these paranormal people. I loved this book. I loved that I could take this walk with them. I loved so dagged much about it that the week has almost ended but I'm still suffering that dazed, hangover feeling. Yeah, I would DEFINITELY recommend this novel. Don't worry that it's part of a series because this book stands alone all on it's own.
