The trilogy starts with Charity's story, who escapes a polygamic Mormon splinter group and a forced marriage, only to land in a ditch in snow covered Wyoming. Rescued by Russ, who seems to be a simple cowboy, she has to learn to survive in a world completely different than what she escaped from, and to trust again. The story continues with Russ and Charity saving the other underage wives from that group, and tells the stories of two of the other young women.Although I did like the plot, the story and the telling of it was too simplistic for my taste, generalising Mormons and splinter groups and painting them as the bad ones.
