Survival. It's basically what this book is about. Running, trying to find food and shelter. It starts strong. A man and his family discover that because of some crazy aurora borealis lights in the sky, people are going psycho. So, man and family have to run away from the crazy psycho people.I listened to the audio version of this book and I was quite interested for about the first half. There are some fantastic, edge of your seat scenes where some crazy shizz goes down. Brutal, graphic. But then we got to the middle and for almost the rest of the book except for a couple decent "thriller-ish" scenes, it just never fully picked back up for me.It was basically just the family trying not to:And being all:I love Blake Crouch, but this was not my favorite. It's fine as far as your basic thriller goes. It definitely isn't bad. The narrator was Phil Gigante, who did a great job. At first, it took some time to adjust because he does distinct voices for every character, including females. But he has a very nice speaking voice, and I enjoyed it. Although the two main females (mother and daughter) came off a bit shrill, but that is probably due to the writing partly as well. I don't know if it's because I listened to it, but there are a boatload of f-bombs in this. I mean, don't get me wrong, if I was going through what they did, I'd be dropping them like crazy too. I just don't recall any of his other books having so many. I never really got into any of the characters themselves either, writing-wise. They were sort of generic. But it was free with Kindle Unlimited and definitely worth free!Popular Run Creat Blake Crouch are Kindle For fans of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Thomas Harris, picture this a landscape of American genocide5 D A Y S A G OA rash of bizarre murders swept the country Senseless Brutal Seemingly unconnected A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike A mass of school shootings Prison riots of unprecedented brutality Mind bogglinFor fans of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Thomas Harris, picture this a landscape of American genocide5 D A Y S A G OA rash of bizarre murders swept the country Senseless Brutal Seemingly unconnected A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike A mass of school shootings Prison riots of unprecedented brutality Mind boggling acts of violence in every state.4 D A Y S A G OThe murders increased ten fold 3 D A Y S A G OThe President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace 2 D A Y S A G OThe killers began to mobilize Y E S T E R D A YAll the power went out T O N I G H TThey re reading the names of those to be killed on the Emergency Broadcast System You are listening over the battery powered radio on your kitchen table, and they ve just read yours.Your name is Jack Colclough You have a wife, a daughter, and a young son You live in Albuquerque, New Mexico People are coming to your house to kill you and your family You don t know why, but you don t have time to think about that any You only have time to.R U NThis 80,000 word novel also contains a bonus interview with Blake, and excerpts from his other work.. Maybe not. Did I care? Nope. The world has gone completely crazy. Cities are burning, people are being shot en masse. There's nowhere to go, but you can't stay where you are. Get food, water, gas . . . and RUN!Not sold on the ending, but the ride getting there was a real trip.
