Bestseller The Named Author Marianne Curley am Books I loved reading from a young age and scoured my school libraries during my younger years, but I never thought I would become a writer It was not until my mid thirties, while teaching office studies and computers to adults at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus that I began to think seriously about writing I took several courses and experimented with different styles and genres With two teenage daughters at the time I fell into writing young adult paranormal and have never looked back.My first four novels, Old Magic, The Named, The Dark and The Key, were published by Bloomsbury Publishing in Australia, the UK, and the USA, with translations into than a dozen foreign languages In 2004, just as The Key was being prepared for printing, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone marrow cancer called Myelofibrosis With only a short time to live, I was given a stem cell bone marrow transplant using my sister s cells, which saved my life I have now been cancer free for fourteen years and have written a new trilogy called The Avena Series All three books Hidden, Broken and Fearless were published between 2013 and 2015 My latest book is The Shadow, the long awaited and much anticipated fourth book in The Guardians of Time Series The Shadow will be released in March 2018 I am presently working on a YA paranormal time travel story, and a contemporary novel based on real events Website mariannecurley7 Email mariannerley7 gmailFacebook facebook mariannerFacebook Author facebook MarianneCurlInsta marianne_curley. Bestseller Books The Named This review is going to be only in English , sorry guys, but The Named wasn’t translated in Italian and I don’t think it could ever be- since it was published in 2002- (this is an excuse to start reading books in English, what are you waiting for, then?).Questa recensione sarà soltanto in inglese, mi dispiace ragazzi, ma The Named non è stato tradotto in italiano e non credo che mai lo sarà – dato che è stato pubblicato nel 2002- (questa è una scusa per iniziare a leggere i libri in inglese, perciò cosa state aspettando?).First of all, I have to say I am not a native english speaker so, please, I prefer to not be attacked, if I made any mistakes. Instead of do that, it would be nice if you corrected me, thank you :)+ Firstly, can we talk about how this book has NO CLICHES at all? Maybe it has a few, but they are so well done I don’t even count them. For instance, the way time travel is in The Named is completely different from every book I’ve ever read. Let me explain. Ethan, which is the main character, is The Named: he is gifted and his duty is to travel in the past to not let The Guard change the past and the future too. The Guard is the opposite of Ethan’s group, The Order. Members of The Order fight against The Guard, created by The Goodness who wants to rule the world by destroying it with diseases and wars. Diseases and wars are mostly from altering the past, that’s why The Order has to travel in time and verify everything is going to be like it has to.+ Marianne Curley surprised me and not just because I enjoyed her first book in this trilogy, she literally left me speechless with her amazing and great written plot twists that kept me turning page by page. The less things you expect are the ones that occur in this novel. If Ethan and Isabel are gifted, then Marianne Curley is as well: writing plot twits the way she does isn’t for all.+ Now we pass at the aspect I loved the most: history settings and clothes. If you love history as much as I do, (which is a lot, folks)then you’ll probably love The Named. The way members of The Order travel in time is interesting, they go to sleep and wake up in Citadel and from that they get their new identities, clothes and all the knowledge they need to. Reading Isabel and Ethan’s missions was always captivating, for a history geek like me.+ About characters, Ethan reminded me of Percy Jackson with his sass, humor and the fact they are both impulsive. Isabel, Ethan’s Apprentice, is a strong girl who surprised me every time and, this event is so rare, but I liked her. Usually, I hate female characters because I expect so much from them, especially if the book is written by a woman. Isabel was an exception, though. Special honour goes to Arkarian, the Truthmaster who is actually way older than he seems, with blue hair and violet eyes. He is wise and always helped Isabel and Ethan.
